It Only Takes You to Heal It: Soul-Level Self-Healing with Heidi Hazen
I used to spiral over a look.
Someone would raise an eyebrow or pause just a little too long after I said something, and my brain would immediately go to:
Did I mess up?
Should I apologize?
Do I need to fix this?
On the outside, I was capable and confident. On the inside, my nervous system was constantly scanning for signs that I’d done something wrong.
Then one day earlier this year, someone gave me That Look… and instead of spiraling, I felt a different response rise up:
No. You didn’t say the wrong thing. And you’re not abandoning yourself over this again.
That quiet internal line in the sand is what led me to finally enroll in Soul Forward Method, created by my friend and guest on the podcast, Heidi Hazen.
Meet Heidi & the Soul Forward Method
Heidi never thought she’d be a hypnotist or create her own modality.
She:
Studied human design
Trained as a master hypnotist
Spent a year doing hypnosis “by the book,” exactly as she’d been taught
Meanwhile, she was also doing deep inner work on herself using those same tools—healing past relationships, clearing old stories, and unpacking what her nervous system had been carrying for years.
She describes it like this: if we’re a container, most of us are packed full of old experiences, beliefs, and self-blame. As she worked through her own, things started to clear out. Suddenly there was space.
Space for:
Her soul to come forward
Her own gifts to drop in
A new way of working to appear
One day, sitting in her sauna, she felt a nudge:
“Do you want to see how this work could support groups of people, online, not just in Bend, Oregon?”
Within 20 minutes, the first half of Soul Forward Method came through. A few weeks later, the rest arrived.
What started as one-to-one hypnosis had become a soul-level self-healing journey designed so you no longer need a “middleman” to heal.
Soul vs. Human: Why You Feel Stuck
Heidi uses the image of a Russian nesting doll to explain the difference between your soul and your human.
The tiniest inner doll is your soul:
Infinitely worthy
A piece of the divine
Whole, powerful, wise
The outer dolls are your human experience:
Family patterns
Cultural conditioning
Stories about money, love, work, and worth
Your soul chooses to come here to “Earth school,” but passes through what Heidi calls the veil of forgetting. You forget you chose any of this, and you get patterned by the people and environments around you.
You pick up stories like:
“I’m only safe if everyone likes me.”
“I’m responsible for other people’s emotions.”
“I can’t say what I really think.”
Those stories live in your subconscious, and your subconscious wires your nervous system. It’s why a simple look, comment, or text can send you into a full-body reaction.
Soul Forward Method helps you:
Access the subconscious directly
See where specific patterns began
Rewrite the story at the root
When those middle “dolls” (old identities and protective patterns) release, your soul sits closer to the surface. Life doesn’t become perfect, but it does become clearer, calmer, and more aligned.
“It Only Takes Me to Heal It”
The line from Heidi that landed in my bones was this:
“It only takes me to heal it.”
Not:
My partner
My boss
My parents
My coach
Just me.
This doesn’t mean support is bad. Therapy, coaching, and other modalities can be incredibly valuable. But there’s a difference between being supported and being saved.
Soul Forward Method is built so you’re no longer outsourcing your healing to someone else. It’s:
A 7-module, self-paced program
With weekly live calls where Heidi holds space and helps you integrate
But the core is this:
You learn to hear your own wisdom and become the one who has your own back.
Resistance as an Invitation
You don’t own who you are without bumping into resistance.
Resistance often gets a bad reputation, but I see it as a fork in the road. It calls your attention to something for a reason. If it truly didn’t matter, it would just slide by.
When resistance pops up, you usually have two options:
Conviction – You double down on what’s true for you. The resistance helps you say, “No, this isn’t aligned.”
Curiosity – You realize your “no” might actually be fear or conditioning. You ask, “What if I could? Who says I can’t?”
Heidi felt resistance when people kept telling her to bring Soul Forward Method into groups. At first it was a hard no. Over time, she realized there was something there—just not in the way people were suggesting.
That resistance helped her stay convicted about what the work needed to be, and also open to expanding it in a way that honored the modality and the people it serves.
Saying What You Mean (and Not Cleaning It Up After)
One of my big in-real-life tests of all this happened online.
Someone asked a question. I answered honestly—no attack, no drama, just my truth.
Their response was… intense. The kind of exchange that would normally send me into apology-mode.
Instead, I:
Let myself feel the discomfort without reacting
Waited until I was calm to respond
Didn’t rush in to over-explain or fix it
Then I ran into them in person.
Old me would’ve opened with:
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean it like that…”
This time, I just made eye contact and said:
“Hey, how are you?”
No shrinking. No over-apologizing. Just authenticity.
That’s what starts to happen when your human and your soul get on the same team. You can say what you mean, let other people have their own reactions, and stay rooted in yourself.
What Harmony Actually Feels Like
Harmony doesn’t mean “everything in my life is perfect.”
For me, harmony showed up as sitting in my office, listening to one of Heidi’s audios in the sauna, suddenly ugly crying in gratitude because the sentence running through my mind was:
It’s all working. You can stop worrying.
That’s the texture of this work:
More calm in your body
More clarity in your decisions
Less obsessing over who misunderstood you
You’re still human. Life still life’s. But you’re not abandoning yourself every time someone raises an eyebrow.
If Your Soul Has Been Tapping You on the Shoulder…
You might be ready for this kind of soul-level self-healing if you:
Keep repeating the same patterns in relationships or work
Feel like you’ve “checked all the boxes” but still feel off inside
Are tired of pedestalling jobs, relationships, or mentors
Have a moment—like I did—where you decide, I’m not doing this to myself anymore
From there, your next step is simple:
Get curious about the patterns that keep showing up
Notice where you’re abandoning yourself
Ask what it would look like to let it be true that it only takes you to heal it
And if you want guided support as you do that, explore Soul Forward Method and Heidi’s quiz (which shows you where you’re out of harmony and ready to shift).
Because when you own who you are at a soul level, your life and work get to be built around you—not the other way around.
You don’t have to settle, shrink, or stay stuck.
You get to simply own it. 💫
