Calendar Clarity: The Productivity Practice You Didn’t Know You Needed
Let’s talk about your calendar.
Not in a “sync up our Google schedules” kind of way, but in a “take a Zach Morris-style time-out and look at your actual life” kind of way.
Because here's the truth:
Most people feel like their days are getting away from them.
Like they’re running from one thing to the next with no clear sense of control, purpose, or direction.
And the calendar—that thing that's supposed to help—often feels like it’s just adding more pressure.
So, let’s shift that.
Let’s turn your calendar into a mirror, a map, and a permission slip—all in one.
The Exercise That Puts a Pin in the Map of Your Life
I call this the Calendar Audit Exercise, and it’s simple, powerful, and something I do regularly.
Here’s how it works:
Pull up last week’s calendar.
Zoom out and look—like you’re looking at someone else’s life.
Ask yourself:
What did I spend time on?
What drained me?
What lit me up?
Where did I actually have control?
Where did I say yes when I wanted to say no?
Where did I say no and feel good about it?
It’s not about judgment—it’s about clarity.
This moment is your pin in the map.
You can't decide where you’re going if you don’t know where you are.
You can’t feel good about saying yes if you don’t know what your no costs you.
So take the time. Zoom out. Observe with compassion.
You Want A Better Push-Up Form? Do the Push-Ups. Practice.
Let me tell you a quick story.
A few days after I did this calendar clarity exercise, I was at the gym doing push-ups.
And out of nowhere, a total stranger comes up and says:
“Your push-ups are really impressive.”
What?! I about fell over (after finishing the set, of course).
And the wildest part? Two days earlier, my husband had said the exact same thing. I had been testing out a new weighted vest at home and did a few push-ups on my toes—maybe four or five.
He looked at me and said,
“Wow, you have really good form.”
And my response?
“Wait… are you serious? Are you teasing me?”
He was serious.
And in that moment, it hit me:
The reason my push-ups look good is because I’ve been doing push-ups.
Not wishing, not watching, not reading.
Doing.
We Don’t Just “Get Better.” We Do Better.
So when that guy at the gym said he wanted push-ups like mine, I told him:
“You just gotta do them.”
Same goes for this calendar work.
You want to feel more fulfilled in your days?
You want to feel like you’re steering your life, not just surviving it?
You just gotta do the reps.
Not once. Not perfectly. But consistently and continuously.
I do this audit quarterly. Sometimes monthly.
And in busy seasons? Even weekly.
Because what you can accomplish in just one week is profound.
But we forget. Because we’re already onto the next thing.
Your Calendar Doesn’t Just Track Time—It Reveals Power
This exercise is more than time management. It’s identity reclamation.
It reminds you:
What you value
What you’ve already survived
What you’re capable of creating next
It gives you permission to stand taller—physically and energetically.
When you see your own patterns, choices, and victories laid out in front of you, you feel your own strength.
You remember who’s in charge (spoiler: it’s you).
Want Help? I’ve Got You.
If you're ready to go deeper, I offer 90-minute calendar audit intensives—and they’re transformational.
In these sessions, we:
Walk through your real calendar together
Identify what’s working, what’s draining you, and what’s missing
Create a plan that aligns with your actual life—not the life you think you should be living
Click here to book a calendar audit intensive (link in the show notes too).
You’ll walk away with clarity, confidence, and a whole new respect for your time—and for yourself.
Final Reminder:
You get to decide where you want to go.
But first, you must see where you’ve been.
So take the pause. Do the push-ups. And come back to me.
Tell me what you find. I’m always cheering you on.
